@Andys-Thanks. It was a wild and hectic week. I’m not used to the traffic and did my best to keep up with this blog and all the comments. JD’s audience is extremely interactive. It was a lot of fun answering all their questions and responding to their comments!

@ConnieB-Welcome! It wasn’t how I planned it but when life gives you lemonade.

Much of what we are taught in school has little to do with real life. Most of the professors have never had a job outside their academic circle. They have a ton of knowledge but little experience. Networking tends to fall in with sales and as such is often treated with little respect. Because of this it isn’t considered important enough to be taught.

The scary thing is that many life skills fall into this category. Personal finance is a good example. It amazes me how many people graduate without even the most basic skills.

In fact, I really enjoyed your guest post at get rich slowly. Networking is an essential skill for any profession, and I love seeing good advice about it. I wish it was taught in schools. We place so much emphasis on grades, and so little on social skills…

I enjoyed 11 steps to the job of your dreams too. All in all – great site. I’ll be back! (In my best Arnold voice).
